I graduated as a veterinarian in 1990. When I started in the industry I worked with small and large animals before finding my niche with small animals. I have been a part of Centenary Vet Hospital since 1999. My aspirations are to see Centenary Vet Hospital provide the level of care wanted by pet owners in Centenary Suburbs. My industry passions are practice management, vet care for disadvantaged and the use of software to improve the relationships between veterinary staff and our clients.
In my spare time you can find me rebuilding old Landrovers. I have a dog named Marley, a horse named Meme and 3 cats, Belle, Jimmy and Cleo.
Dr. Caitlin Teuwen (BVSc (Hons)
Veterinarian Director
Pets: Paddington – 4.5 year old Golden Retriever
I graduated in 2007 from the University of QLD with 1st Class Honours and have spent all of my time since graduation in Small Animal Primary Care Practice in Brisbane. I started with Centenary Vets in 2021 after having my second child and was very proud to take on the role of Veterinary Director in April 2023. I have a strong interest in orthopaedic and advanced soft tissue surgery, abdominal ultrasound and internal medicine. I see myself continuing to work in Small Animal Primary Care Practice and would like to expand my skills to continue to help Centenary Vet Hospital clients and patients. I also have 2 beautiful toddler boys so I am kept busy outside of work as well!

Dr. Beth Trew (BVSc (Hons))
I am based at the Forest Lake Veterinary Clinic. I started in the industry as a veterinary nurse in 2005 and went on to study my Bachelor Veterinary Science Class I Honours graduating in 2018. I enjoy dermatology and building lasting relationships with clients and their pets. I may look into more feline related qualifications in the future.
I enjoy brunching and exploring Brisbane but most of my time is spent with my toddler and partner & doting on our 5 cats! Crazy cat lady. Two of our 5 cats were brought into Forest Lake as strays.
Dr. Georgia Gates (BVSc (Hons)
I started working at Centenary Vet at the beginning of 2021 and have enjoyed my time, providing excellent patient care and building individual client rapport. Before graduating veterinary medicine, I entered the industry in 2012, working as a nurse whilst I completed my school and university studies (Bachelor of Veterinary Science). I am very passionate in what I do and am a big advocate for client relationships because owners are the voice for their pets needs. My special interests include dermatology and dentistry. I have aspirations to one day peruse a specialty in dermatology, but I ultimately love treating animals for all their primary care needs. At home, I have a rescue cat called Evie. She inspires me to improve my skills everyday so I can provide the best care to everyone’s own family pets.
Every animal is different. Many of them become quite anxious when they enter the clinic. I will always adjust my handling to fit in with your animal’s comfort level during their examination, ensuring that they are treated with the care, respect and gentleness they deserve.
Dr. Catherine Atkinson (BVSc (Hons))
Hi, My name is Cathy Atkinson, and I am one of the vets at Centenary Vet Surgery.
I have been a vet for more than 30 years, and I still love my job! During my career, I have treated cats and dogs in small animal practices in Queensland and England, worked in rural mixed practice in North Queensland, and also done some work with cattle embryos on client’s farms. I find the most rewarding part of being a vet is seeing the happiness that a pet brings to their family, and being able to contribute positively to that special relationship.
I have one fur-child called Samuel. He is a ginger domestic shorthair who moved in 14 years ago and claimed the house. We were allowed to stay as long as we followed The Rules! I also have two grown up children of the human variety. When I am not busy at work, I like to spend time with family and friends, sing in a choir and enjoy time in the great outdoors.
Dr. Jadyn Ikeda (BVSc (Hons)
I graduated from UQ in 2016 with (BVSc (Hons)). I had 2 years off out of uni for maternity leave, and 2 years off again before I came to work at Centenary Vets. I have 2 small people, boy (2.5y) and girl (7y) and an 11yo Bull Arab that is constantly jockeying for space on the couch. I started at Centenary late March of 2023, previously worked at a primarily small animal (occasional goat/sheep/chook--no thank you) practice in the Logan area. I grew up in Hawaii and love (and miss) the beach and ocean. Between work and small kids I have negative time to do much of anything else, but love to get outside for a bushwalk, camping, days at the beach.
Veterinary Nurses
Bec McKelvey
Senior Veterinary Nurse
I have been at Centenary Vets since December 2020, and I completed my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2019. When growing up I was always one of those kids who said "I'm going to be a vet when I grow up!" and as I got older I discovered that vet nursing was the career for me. I adore my job and can't imagine doing anything else. I am passionate about taking a gentle approach when it comes to animals and finding ways to make them feel calm & not stressed. I also really enjoy doing x-rays and surgery nursing. I absolutely love cats and am happiest when I am home with my own girl Clio, a brown tabby Domestic Shorthair. I also own a beautiful ex-racing rescue Greyhound called Marty who just wants to be friends with everyone he meets. In my spare time I enjoy painting, watching movies, and reading.

Caitlin Phair
Veterinary Nurse
I started my journey into the animal industry working at the RSPCA in the animal cruelty rescue hotline services. From there I discovered my passion for animal health and care and went onto work for The Animal Emergency Service whilst I studied for my Certificate 4 in Vet Nursing. Now at Centenary Vets going into general practice has been a wonderful and great learning experience for me. As a Consult Nurse I love to develop honest customer relationships and work with animals and their humans for the best possible treatment and care.
I'm passionate about education, prevention and animal development. When I'm not working I'm hanging out with my husband and 3 dogs playing video games and hanging out at the park.

Reception & Administration
Cheryl Hinds
Business Owner
I don’t have any qualifications within the veterinary industry apart from being married to a vet since 1992 - with 3 now adult children. I have had qualifications as a registered human nurse, as well as worked as a receptionist and in admin. Although not growing up with pets myself, I’ve developed a love for our cats dogs and horses, and of course our family has had rats, guinea pigs, cockatiels, cared for a carpet snake, fostered greyhounds, a galah, a chicken (briefly), and goldfish for awhile.
- love working with people
- love getting to know clients and their stories
- love to be able to be a part of peoples‘ lives and help where possible - our clients as well as our beautiful and varied team who each bring something different and amazing to our work family.
Thalia Thorogood
Accounts Administration
I have worked for Centenary Vets for just over 2 years, which was the start of my Vet industry career. I have worked in the Centenary suburbs for over 16 years, so I am very familiar with many of the Centenary Vet clients. I feel very blessed to work in such a family friendly, professional environment. I am not a Vet or Vet nurse but love working in the Vet Industry and love animals. My expertise is in Customer service, accounts, payroll, and administration.
We have a 4-year-old cat named Kiki. We adopted her a few weeks after I started work at Centenary Vets. She took a while to settle in but now she is a total snuggle bum. Throughout my life I have been lucky enough to have many pets, dogs, horses, guinea pigs, rabbits, mice, a budgie, my sister even had a rat. Our Golden Retriever Emma had 10 puppies which was very exciting, however was also a distraction for me when I was meant to be studying for my year 12 exams! Our last pet before Kiki was a beautiful Staffy. She was full of energy, loyal and loved to be with us – all the time!!
I look forward to meeting all our clients and their fur babies.
